CNN —Human trafficking-fueled fraud is exploding in Southeast Asia with organized crime rings raking in close to $3 trillion in illicit revenue annually, the head of Interpol has said in comments that reveal the huge profits being earned by cartels. One international organized crime group makes $50 billion a year, according to Interpol secretary-general Jurgen Stock, adding that $2 trillion to $3 trillion of illicit money flows through the global financial system annually. While drug trafficking contributes around 40% to 70% of organized crime income, criminal groups are also using those smuggling networks to illegally move humans, arms and stolen products among other things, Stock said. Criminal enterprises also exist in Laos, Thailand and the Philippines, with many of the lucrative online scam operations ranging from illegal gambling, to love scams and crypto fraud. Beijing has pressed Myanmar’s military government to rein in the scam operations, but with limited success.

The RAF, he said, emerged in what was then West Berlin, at the “crossroads” of the Cold War. In April 1975, six RAF members seized the West German Embassy in Stockholm in a hostage standoff with the goal of forcing the release of imprisoned RAF members. CNN —Former England manager Sven-Göran Eriksson will be part of the Liverpool FC Legends management team for a charity soccer match, the club announced in a statement on Tuesday. Eriksson, who publicly revealed his terminal cancer diagnosis last month, will be on the sidelines alongside Liverpool greats Ian Rush, John Barnes and John Aldridge against an Ajax Legends team. The annual LFC Foundation charity match will be held at Anfield on March 23. Following the news of Eriksson’s diagnosis, Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp invited the Swede to Anfield after the former England boss said he would never be able to fulfil his dream of managing Liverpool following his terminal cancer diagnosis. According to Liverpool, all proceeds from next month’s charity match will support the work of the club’s foundation and its charity partners.

CNN —Since joining Liverpool in 2022, Darwin Núñez has continued to be an entertaining, yet polarizing presence in the English Premier League. This juxtaposition was on full display in Livepool’s league win against Chelsea on Wednesday, where Núñez missed a penalty, made a wonderful assist and then set an unwanted record.
